Alexander Winery makes history with a 94 point rank, the highest an Israeli wine has ever been awarded by Robert Parker
In a tasting of Israeli wines publicized internationally acclaimed wine critic Robert Parker’s website, Amorolo 2011 of the Alexander the Great series, produced by Alexander Winery, was awarded 94 points, being the highest rank ever given to an Israeli wine.
The tasting was held by Robert Parker’s staff, headed by Mark Squires who praised not only our Amorolo but also praised additional wines, giving them high rankings: Alexander the Great Grand Reserve 2010 was awarded 93 points, Alexander the Great Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 received 90 points, and Alexander the Great Chardonnay Cleopatra 2013 came in at 90 points. These grades are so far unprecedented for an Israeli winery.
Writing his review of Alexander Winery’s Amorolo 2011, Mark Squires notes that:
“It’s the structure here that is most impressive. It’s beautiful the next day, too, thinned a bit with the tannins toned down a bit, but drinking well… Overall, this is a heck of a wine that is just bursting with juicy fruit. It might be my favorite wine ever from Alexander. Drink: 2015 – 2030.”
