Accessibility Commitment
At Alexander Winery, we believe the internet should be available and accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. We are fully committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, including individuals with disabilities.
To achieve this, we aim to strictly adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities.
Our website utilizes various technologies to ensure continuous accessibility. This includes an accessibility interface that allows users with specific disabilities to customize the site’s UI to their personal needs.
Additionally, we use an accessibility application that runs in the background, continuously improving our website’s accessibility by adjusting HTML, optimizing functionality for screen readers, and enhancing keyboard navigation.

Screen Reader & Keyboard Navigation
Our site incorporates ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes and behavioral adjustments to ensure screen reader users can fully navigate and interact with the website.
Once a user with a screen reader enters the site, they are prompted to activate screen reader mode (Alt+1), which adapts the interface for optimal use. We support all major screen readers, including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
Screen Reader Optimization Includes:
- Accurate form labels
- Descriptions for actionable icons (e.g., social media, search, cart)
- Component roles (e.g., buttons, menus, modal dialogs)
- Image ALT text with object recognition and OCR for embedded text
Keyboard Navigation Optimization:
- Navigation via Tab and Shift+Tab
- Open/close menus with arrow keys and Esc
- Activate buttons/links with Enter
- Toggle checkboxes/radios with Space or Enter
- Quick keys: M (Menus), H (Headings), F (Forms), B (Buttons), G (Graphics)
- Alt+2: Skip to content menu
